This course is a two-day online course ideal for those who would like to become an MHFAider®

Alongside the best evidence-based Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, MHFAiders® are also provided with three-year access to ongoing learning and support through the MHFAider Support App®.

As an MHFAider® you will be able to:

• Recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention
• Encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and other supports
• Practise active listening and empathy
• Have a conversation with improved mental health literacy around language and stigma
• Discuss the role in depth, including boundaries and confidentiality
• Practise self-care

All delegates will be qualified mental health first aiders following the online sessions and will receive a certificate from MHFA England.

Mental Health First Aid Champions play a key role in overcoming the stigma around mental health and creating a positive and open working culture, where it’s okay to not be okay and talking is encouraged.

On this course delegates will learn about the most common mental health problems including how to identify when someone is experiencing mental distress. Delegates will feel more confident supporting others, particularly in the workplace, and you will know how to signpost appropriately. Covers the MHFA ALGEE action plan, and how to use it.

This is an introductory four-hour session to provide an understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma. You’ll gain a basic knowledge of common mental health issues, learn how to start a conversation around mental health and some strategies for looking after your own mental health and well-being.

This course is for anyone aged 16 upwards who have completed Mental Health First Aider or Mental Health Champion courses. The refresher is recommended at least every three years.

Mental Health Skills for Managers is a practical and immersive course for managers of teams. This course is ideal for managers at all levels across an organisation. The training promotes healthy performance culture, giving managers the skills and confidence to have conversations about mental health.

This course consists of a four-hour session which covers: the Mental Health Spectrum; stress and workplace stressors; preparing for mental health conversations; mental health conversation cycle; wellbeing and stress in the workplace; commitments to change. The session will also contain activities so that the skills taught can be put into practice in smaller groups.

Teaching the theory and practice of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any professional or personal setting, this programme is delivered over a half day as a suicide prevention awareness session.

The programme teaches the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and to pass the person onto a suicide first aider.

Taught using tutor facilitated Socratic learning, tutor-led role-play, mini lectures, group work and audio-visual presentations.

This has some interactive elements and is an emotionally engaging learning experience.
